UFC FIGHT NIGHT 201 Analysis

Main Event Preview:

Jamahal Hill is an explosive fighter who is 4-1-1 in the UFC. He most recently showed brilliance stopping Jimmy Crute in the first round on December 4th. Johnny Walker has had a similar upbringing as Jamahal Hill, showing absolute dominance in his first few fights in the UFC. However, he has not been able to get on the winning side of his fights lately. What does BCDC think about the main event… as you know, we are about the data. In our research for the fight, we see a few big stats coming into play Saturday night. In his last three fights, Hill averages 3 minutes in the octagon. Fighters like Johnny Walker with a reach of 82 inches are 1-4 in the last 5 fights at Light Heavyweight. Lastly (and most importantly),  Jamahal Hill is 4-0 against fighters with 5 or more Significant Strike Attempts per minute. Hill has been sitting at around -280 all week, which indicates sportsbooks believe he has about a 74% chance of winning the fight. The data is telling us Hill will win, and our machine learning model picked Hill, too. We are predicting Hill to win with slight edge involved.

Co Main Event Preview:

Kyle Daukaus and Jamie Pickett are in the Co Main Event fight this weekend. Kyle Daukaus is coming off of a no contest on October 02, 2021. Daukaus has won 1 of his last 4 fights. This actually could be a hugely misleading stat, and that is what BCDC is here to help with. Kyle Daukaus has fought premier talent in the Middleweight division. Kyle fought Phil Hawes, Brendan Allen (the #9 Middleweight for BCDC rankings), and a very solid Kevin Holland. Jamie Pickett has rarely fought opponents of a similar caliber to those fought by Daukaus. Also, Middleweights priced between -230 to -270 are 8-2 in the last 10 fights. Daukaus is within this range showing a solid ~10% edge on this fight. Kyle Daukaus to win the Co Main Event.
